Join Dr. Chuck West in a captivating presentation on how Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) is changing the face of technology, business, education, and life as we know it. Many jobs will be lost, while new jobs, jobs we can only dream about, will be created. Today, Artificial Intelligence impacts the life of millions. In the not-so-distant future, the scope will be in the billions. Lives will be made easier, and we will live longer through the application of Artificial Intelligence in medical advances and human augmentation. Dr. West will lead discussions on where to go and not to go for Artificial Intelligence updates and information. Topics for discussion include ethics, farming, education, autonomous transportation, business, and more. You will not want to miss exploring how the impact of Artificial Intelligence innovations has already impacted civilization. Learn how your decisions now will impact YOUR future.
Through guidance from Dr. Chuck West, develop an appreciation for creating the inference engines and knowledge bases that are used in implementing Expert Systems (ES). These systems emulate how humans think and make decisions. They take existing knowledge to solve complex problems by using conventional IF, THEN, ELSE set of rules. With no prior programming knowledge, you will develop a logic diagram for a simple Expert Systems. Learn how Expert Systems are created, their strengths, and their weaknesses. Learn the nomenclature necessary to communicate with developers within the Artificial Intelligence community. Expert Systems have been in use for decades in many varied fields from accounting to logistics, to reservation systems, to numerous military applications. Currently Expert Systems are used extensively in the field of medicine. No prior programming knowledge is required. All you need to bring to class is the desire to expand your knowledge and understanding of the world around you. This class, along with the class in Deep Learning and Neural Networks class, is designed to spark an interest in, not only the application of Artificial Intelligence in society, but also a generate an interest in lucrative careers in Artificial Intelligence.
This session, Dr. Chuck West will introduce you to Deep Learning (DL), one of the key components of Artificial Intelligence. Unlike Expert Systems and Machine Learning (ML) these systems take Machine Learning to the next level, they LEARN. They are not programmed with the classic set of IF, THEN, ELSE rules. One does not have to explicitly program everything. You will see how Deep Learning networks can learn, much like humans do, and how they are taught. Unlike supervised learning models, as in kindergarten children do, they do not require a structured environment to learn and make accurate decisions. They, like humans do, learn from real life. Simply stated, DLs, without being “told” what to do, extract the characteristics, features and relationships of input date in making their decisions. Learn about the basic concepts of DLs and how to train them. Gain an understanding of how massive amounts of structured and unstructured data are converted to useful knowledge that can be applied to various fields such as customer support, medical diagnosis, image analysis and self-driving vehicles. Learn how a computer can decipher handwriting or pick a dog out of a million animal pictures. Learn the difference between forward chaining and backward chaining, supervised learning and unsupervised learning. You will be able to communicate with others in the field and develop an understanding and appreciation of what these systems can do to resolve complex problems and how this will fit into the future. This class is designed to not only spark an interest in Artificial Intelligence but also to generate interest in very lucrative careers. Don’t miss this opportunity to gain an understanding of the most powerful field of study in computer science.
